Say it in English

1. Friend: How come you’re so fit?. どうしてそんなに健康的なの？

   You :         

   ① I go to the gym at least twice a week.

       私は少なくとも週に2回ジムに行っているの。

      ・go to the gymと現在形なのは「現在の習慣」を表しているから。

　　　現在形は「広く一般的な内容」を表すことができる。

　　・at least「少なくとも」、atは「点」 leastはlittle(少ない)の最上級。

　　　「最も少ない点であっても」ということ。

   ② It’s a bit tough, especially after work.

        続けるのはちょっと大変よ、特に仕事の後にはね。

　　・especially「特に」。特に目立つ顕著なものを取り上げるときに使う。

      But, “No pain, no gain,” right?

      でも、「努力なくして進歩無し」よね？

2. Coworker: Have you found any good applicants.

                        いい応募者が見つかった？

    You:

　 ① Yes, I think so. It was very difficult to choose among all applicants,

         うん、そう思うよ。すべての応募者から選ぶのはとても大変だったけど、

          among「一群のモノ・人々」を表す前置詞、all applicantsは一人一人を明確に

　　　意識してはいない。

        but how about these three?

     　でもこの3人はどうだろう。

　　  how about～? は気軽な提案「～はどうですか？」。

   ② They are all well‐qualified and have a great work history too. 

　　 彼らは十分な資格があるし、すばらしい職歴を持っているんだ。

  　  Let’s set up an interview with them.

　　彼らとの面接を設定することにしよう。

        set upは会合などを「用意・設定する」。カレンダー上に予定をしっかり

　　 立ち(set)上げる(up)というイメージ。

   →　Yes. Here you are…This is the official digital card on my phone..

4.  This certificate is from Japan. So, you’re arriving from Japan, right?

   →　Right. I arrived from Tokyo.

5.  And you got your shots in japan… Which vaccine did you get?

  →　I got the Pfizer vaccine.

6．One question…What were the dates of your shots?

  →  Let me see… I think the dates are here…

7.　OK. Good. And do you have your negative PCR test certificate?

   →　Yes. Here is the negative test certificate.

8.  OK! Great! Do you have any cold symptoms? How are you feeling now?

   →  I’m fine. I have a normal temperature and I don’t have any cold

       symptoms. I’m just tired from the flight.

9.  All set then. Enjoy your stay in Australia!
