         　　あのブタの貯金箱は何？

You:

① Cute, isn’t it? I try to put aside 1,000 yen a week for a rainy day.

　 可愛いくない、ね？　まさかの時のために毎週1、000円貯めようとしてるの。

　・for a rainy day「万が一の場合・まさかの時に備えて」。災難が「雨降りの日」

　　にたとえられている。

    ・put～aside[by]「～を貯める・取っておく」

② But I end up spending it all.

　でも結局、全部使うことになっちゃうのよね。     　

2. Coworker: Why are you leaving? It’s only one o’clock .

　　　　　　 どうして退社するの?　まだ1時よ。

  You: The boss gave me the afternoon off to prepare for Helen’s goodbye party.

           ヘレンのお別れ会を準備するために、上司が午後休をくれたんだよ。

        ・prepare for～「～の準備をする」。前置詞forの「向かって」のイメージ。

　　 ・remember「覚えている・忘れないでいる」

        You remember the party, right?

　　  パーテイーの件、覚えているよね？

        It starts at 6:00, so don’t be late, OK?  

　　 6時から始まるから遅れないでね、いい？

　　この文ではstartsと、現在形が未来を表している。バスや電車の時刻表、

        式次第など、確定した事態は未来の出来事であっても現在形を使う。

   →　Actually I found them on the government’s tourism website.

         There was a limited time offer. So I applied and they upgraded

         our tickets!!

   over there?

   →　Yes! How exciting!

   →　Thanks so much. We appreciate it.
