SAY IT IN ENGLISH

Student: Could you tell me how to improve my English?

              You: Well, There are many ways to improve your English.

               Ways(方法)の後ろにto不定詞、waysを説明する。

            First, you could make a to-do list.

　         a to-do listでto不定詞のto-doはlistの前に置かれ、その種類を指定

            している。「やるべきことのリスト」

          I mean, a list of what you should do every day.

　　  You need to make a habit of studying English.

　　　needの後ろ、目的語の位置にto不定詞が置かれる。

Friend: I want to improve my English. Do you have any good ideas?

You: I’ve heard that there’s a very inspiring radio program for studying English.    

       heardの後ろに節、節が「聞いた」内容を説明している。

       動詞-ing形inspiring(刺激的な・学習意欲を起こさせる)がradio programの

       前に置かれ、そうした「種類」の番組であることを示している。

　  The title is Radio Ei… something. I’m considering listening to it.

     Do you want to join me?

      consideringの目的語位置にlistening to以下が置かれ「～することを

      考えている」。
