Dad: Hi, Roxy. How are things over there in England?

     　やあ、ロキシー。イギリスではどんな調子だい？

Roxy: I love it, here, Dad. Grandpa and Grandma are so nice.

　　　ここはとっても気に入ってるわ。お祖父ちゃんもお祖母ちゃんも凄くやさしく

　　　してくれるし。

Dad: Are they home now?

     　2人は今家にいるの？

Roxy: No, they went out to buy some scones for afternoon tea.

　　　いないわ。アフタヌーンテｲ―のためにスコーンを買いに出掛けたの。

　　　英語の修飾規則「説明ルール：説明は後ろに置く」

　　　動詞句went outの後にto不定詞to buy sme scones for aftenoon teaで説明。

Dad: Are you crying, Roxy?

     　おまえ今泣いているのかい？ロキシー？

Roxy: Sorry, Dad. I was wathing a British TV show about onsen in Japan.

      　ご免なさい、お父さん。イギリスのテレビ放送で日本の温泉番組を観ていたの。

　　　基本動詞watch

     　 Watchのイメージは「注視する」、動いているものを集中力を持って見ている。

　　It made me a little homesich.

　　それで、ちょっとホームシックになっちゃったのよ。

Dad: It’s natural to feel homesick, especially at the beginning of your stay.

　　ホームシックを感じるのは自然なことだよ。特に留学の初まりなんだからね。

Roxy: I guess so.

　　　私もそう思うの。

 　説明語句　a little homesick

me = a little homesckという状況をmekeした

①He made his dad big. 　彼は父親を大きく描きました。

　his dad = bigにした

②Make mine the fish burger.　 私のはフィッシュバーガーにしてね。

③Make yourself at home.　おくつろぎください。

　yourself(あなた自身)＝at home(くつろいで)という状況をmakeする

④I made myself understood in English. 　私は英語で理解してもらえました。

　 myself =understood(理解された)という意味。

　 Your daughter made her had really big in her drawing.

2. ホームステｲの間、私は英語で理解してもらうことができ、とてもうれしかったです

　 I was so happy that I could make myself understood in English during my homestay.

   　that以下の節はwas so happyの原因を説明している。

3.　私が夕食の用意をしている間、あなた方はリラックスしてくつろいでくださいね。

　　Relax and make yourselves at home while I see to the dinner.

   　 Whileは～の間、2つの出来事が同時進行していることを表す。

　　see to ～は、「～に必要な処置を施す・～の用意をする」
