Grammar and vocabulary
Masaya: That was the best hamburger I’ve ever had.
あれは僕が今まで食べた中で一番美味しいハンバーガーだったなあ。
最上級を「範囲指定」とともに。
「最も～」というとき、「何の中で「最も」なのか」―「指定範囲」
この文ではthe best hamburgerに続く関係代名詞節I’ve ever hadがその
働きをしている。
Deena : I know. It was kind of a gourmet burger, wasn’t it?
そうね。あれはちょっとしたグルメなバーガーよね、そうじゃない？
付加疑問文
軽い疑問・念押しで使われる付加疑問文、基となる文を軽い疑問にして
文末に付ける。
①肯定文なら否定疑問 it was ～→ ,wasn’t it?
②否定文なら肯定疑問 it wasn’t ～→ ,was it?
肯定と否定を入れ替えるのは、相手に選択させるため。「グルメなバーガー
でしたね、それともそうじゃない？」と選ばせる、疑問や念押しの気持ち。
Masaya: Yes. It was expensivem but it was worth it.
そう、高かったけど、その価値がある美味しさだったよ。
Deena, how about walking to Shibuya?
デｲ―ナ、渋谷まで歩くってのはどうだい？
We don’t need to take the train.
電車に乗る必要なんてないよ。
Deena : Right. After that big lunch, I feel like walking.
そうね。あんなに豪華なランチの後じゃ、歩きたい気分ね。

そこに着くまで、歩いたらどのくらいかかるのかしら？
Masaya: It’ll only take 15 minutes or less if we walk fast.
たった15分かそこらだよ、早足で歩いたらね。
Deena : Oh, let’s see a movie there.
じゃあ、そこで映画を観ましょうよ。
Masaya: Sure. いいね。

Takeの「手に取る」は、「手に取って使う」。この文ではit(渋谷に歩いていくこと(こと)が(15分)しか使わない、ということ。日本語訳では「かかる・必要とする」。
①take care of 世話をする(気持ち)
take advantage of 利用する(利点)
take a job 仕事を引き受ける
②take time 時間を必要とする
take money of お金を必要とする
take courage 勇気を必要とする
take an expert 専門家を必要とする
What does it take to be a good teacher? 良い先生になるためには何が必要ですか？
③「かかる」の使い方ではit～to…の形が多用される。
④It took me two hours to finish this report. このリポートを終えるのに2時間かかった。
「かかる」の授与型。「私」から「2時間」を奪うの意味。
