SAY IT IN ENGLISH

1.Friend : Did you talk to your hasband about the business card?

        You: ① Yes, and it turned out that he met a headhunter there

                    and was offered a job as a manager in a blue-chip company.

                   ・turn out ～「～ということが分かる・明らかになる」

                     文全体はit～that…の形。明らかになった内容をthat以下で説明している。

                  ・was offered a job(仕事をオファーされた)　授与型受動態

　　   　② He said he was keeping that business card to take me there!

　　　  　・He said he wasは時制の一致。主節動詞と後続の節が[過去―過去]連鎖。

　　　　  ・take「連れて行く」「(手に)取って」どこかに行くイメージ。

2.Friend : What’s that cat over there?

        You: ① That is called a beckoning cat or a manekineko.

                ・能動態はcall that a beckoning cat。目的語を主語に

                  「be動詞+過去分詞」で目的語説明型受動態に。

                ・or「もしくは」相手の理解を得る為に別の言い回しを加える使い方。

　　　   ② It is believed to bring in customers and money. Cute, isn’t it?

　　　　 ・be believed to ～「～すると信じれている」

               ・bring in「運び込む→もたらす」
