エモリさん、もうすぐ函館山の頂上ですね！
Mr. Emori: Yes, soon we’ll be able to look over Hakodate City at night.
はい、すぐに函館市の夜景を見渡すことができますよ。
will be able to～「～できるでしょう」 助動詞+助動詞類
willは未来をちらっと見通す感じ、日本語訳の「～だろう・でしょう」
の、不安定さはない。
Cindy: I heard it’ s called a “million‐dollar－ view. ”
私は、それを「100万ドルの夜景」って言うと聞いています。
Mr. Emori: Yes, they say that in Japan.
その通り、日本ではそう言われているね。
I wonder why they don’t use “yen”
どうして「円」を使わないんだろうね。
Cindy: You’re so funny, Mr.Emori!
エモリさんて、すっごく可笑しいわ。

目的語説明型
目的語とその後ろの説明語句の間に「＝(イコール)」あるいは
「主語―述語」の関係がある。「me= Toshioと呼ぶ」
＊I heard it’ s called a “million‐dollar－ view.”
call it a “million‐dollar－ view.” のitを主語として抜き出し、
受動態の形is calledとする。
Cindy: OK, Toshio. Oh. It is kind of cold up here.
分かったわ、トシオ。おお、ここはちょっとばかり寒いわね。

さあ、君に僕のジャッケットを掛けさせて。

Feel English Key Sentence
Let me put my jacket over you.
この文のoverは「掛ける」、対象を「覆う」。overのイメージ「上に円弧(アーチ)」が
「覆う」を生み出している。
*put～over… Put a blanket over you.毛布を掛けなさい。
① Soon we’ll be able to look over Hakodate City at night.
ここでのlook over は「見渡す(既出・ざっと目を通す)」、「函館市を覆う(範囲)」
が意識されている。
②「覆う」ニュアンス。
・all over the world 世界中(世界を覆うような地域)
all over the street / the place [通りのいたるところ/あらゆるところに]
・over the weekend 週末にかけて[週末を覆う機関]
・Let’s talk over a cop of coffee. コーヒーを飲みながら話をしましょう。
talk over ～「～しながら話す」。この文ではコーヒーを覆う間が感じられる
③ 「上に円弧(アーチ)」を繰り返すと「回転」のイメージが生まれ、更に展開
広がっていく。
・roll over 転がる
・over again もう一度初めから
over and over ( again) 何度も何度も
・ go over 復習する・詳しく見る
・ think it over それをよく考える
